Breastfeeding Manifesto

56 AM Supporters have already added their support to the Manifesto.

In July 2007 every Assembly Member (AM) in Wales received a hard copy of the Breastfeeding Manifesto and has been invited to add their support to it.

With your help and with the help of your friends and family we can ensure that all AMs add their support.

From this page you can identify your AM and then send them a personalised email about the Manifesto.

But please only do this if your AM has not yet added their support to the Manifesto. To check to see if your AM is already supporting the manifesto click here

AMs are extremely busy people but their primary concern is to be responsive to you, their constituent. The more individuals who lobby their AMs, the more AMs will add their support. So, once you've sent the email to your AM you can email friends, colleagues and family and encourage them to do the same.

With your help we can achieve mass cross-party support for the Manifesto.

Dear (WRITE THE NAME OF YOUR AM HERE), I believe you recently received a letter from about the Breastfeeding Manifesto which is supported by a Coalition of over 35 organisations including UNICEF, Save the Children, the National Childbirth Trust, the Breastfeeding Network, Best Beginnings, The Royal College of Midwives The Royal College of Nursing and the Community Practitioners and Health Visitors Association. In the UK 9 out of 10 women who had stopped breastfeeding by six weeks wished they could have breastfed for longer. That means that every year approximately 300,000 women stopped breastfeeding before they wished to. There are also huge health inequalities around breastfeeding with mothers from lower socio-economic groups being significantly less likely to initiate and sustain breastfeeding. The Breastfeeding Manifesto outlines seven objectives that, if implemented, could result in a dramatic uplift in the number of mothers who are able to make fully informed choices about how to feed their babies and receive proper support. As far as I am aware you have not, as yet, added your support to the Breastfeeding Manifesto. I am writing to ask you to sign-up your name to the Brastfeeding Manifesto Coalition.
